Publisher's Letter
The sportsman’s lifestyle is in my blood. My father, one of eight brothers, grew up on a farm in Vaiden, in Central Mississippi. This family of 10 lived off the land; they hunted, fi shed and farmed to put food on the table. They respected how the land sustained and colored their lives.
A generation later, when I was a young girl, the gathering spot for my extended family remained at my grandparents’ home on this farm. After the morning hunt, my father, his brothers and a slew of friends would bustle into the house, looking for a home-cooked meal. My grandmother, Violet Deloris, was famous in those parts for her love of family as well as cooking for her hungry hunters. She would never disappoint. Afterward, the countdown was on for the afternoon hunt.
Mississippi Land & Lodges is dedicated to generations of sportsmen and their families who are celebrating and perpetuating Mississippi’s sporting lifestyle.
